The Old
Market Artists Gallery (OMA) was established in March of 2007. We
operate as a stock option co-op
and limit our membership to 12-14 artists. Over the years we have
offered display space to established artists
and those just starting their journey. Part of our mission has been
to assist our members to market,
display
and sell their work. They are encouraged to seek outside
show opportunities and to expand their
body of work.
Every
member works 1 shift a week and takes on the responsibility of
sitting on the Board or serving as a
Committee Chair. We rotate our yearly calendar with Featured Artist
and All Member Shows. We host
fundraisers during the year to support a number of local
non-profit organizations. The past few years we
have rented
a larger gallery at the Hot Shops in the spring to give our members
a larger format to display
their new work.
Over the
years a number of our members have been recognized on the National
and International level with
exhibits and shows throughout the world. A number of our original
members have moved on due to increased
demands for their work – a good thing.
Because
our space is small we are selective in our membership choices and
strive to have a nice balance of
2-D and 3-D work. We rotate our work monthly so even our regular
patrons can find something new.
