ARTIST NEWS:

Lynda Tygart

“Alone.  Not Lonely.”  The theme for Lynda’s new collection reflects her recent experience during a solo trip to France.

Julie Kinkade

The Omaha Summer Arts Festival was good to me this year, weather-wise and having a warm reception for my new work in a sculptural vein, my "Half Cup" plays on the structure of the humble drinking vessel.  Being one of the featured artists for OMA"s First Friday in August, I will trot out a paddock full of little horses not seen for a while.  Seahorses too!  Since school is out for another month or so, I'm enjoying being a full time potter at the Omaha Clay Works.  Come visit, but do call first: 689-8253.  Stay cool.

And if that's not enough! . . .

New Member Artist:

Curt Norman

Curt Norman, a self-taught woodturner, has always had a profound interest in wood crafting.  Since his retirement as a Senior Relay Specialist from Omaha Public Power District, he has been given the gift of time to sharpen his skills at the art of woodturning. Curt enjoys the versatility of turning many types of wood and has an appreciation for the unique beauty in all.  Residing in Nebraska gives him the opportunity to harvest a large variety of Midwestern woods such as Spalted Maple, Walnut and Osage.  Curt also enjoys turning a wide variety of pieces such as beautiful multi-wood candlesticks, wine bottle stoppers, pens bowls and hollow-form vases.  Curt is actively involved in two woodturning clubs in the area and a member of the American Association of woodturners.
